baby

Everything I do is meant to help you “give birth” to the business you love or nurture your business to be the best it’s ever been, which starts with a foundation. Today I dare you to give birth. Birth to the “baby” new brand, the new business year or the idea that you’ve been nurturing.

Let’s travel back in time to the concept of the brand. What is branding? “Branding is the social perception about a person, product, or company.” Which means that your brand is defined by your customers. What your customers & fans believe about you, say about you, and purchase from you, becomes the brand. Which forces me to ask the question – what makes up a brand and what helps develop these social perceptions?

Before I move forward, I want you to download the fun sheet I’ve provided so that you can see a visual depiction of how each element creates a cohesive brand. You’ll notice that this fun sheet is a “flower” brainstorm. Flowers blossom & wilt, but so do brands. You want to get your brand to blossom this year. Remember, each piece of the brand is equally important.

Let’s go over what makes up a brand at the core; identity is the core of a brand:

Identity: name | logo | tagline | YOU

What most people don’t realize is that the brand goes beyond the identity. There are several other elements of the brand (Note that you do not have to have all the pieces of each petal, but you need to create a business that works for you, your schedule, & what you are comfortable with).

Style: visuals | colors | fonts | design elements | keywords | writing style

These are what make your brand consistent through all elements of the brand.

A Love Story: your why | a written or spoken mission | about your business | your ideal customer story

You have to let your fans & future fans know what your brand is all about; such as telling them through a love story.

An Experience: website | blog | social media | live events | interviews | virtual events | direct sales parties or shows

It’s not enough to have an in-person business. Now we must be searchable & noticeable. We need to make people stop what they’re doing & pay attention to us.

An Offering: products | services | speaking | books | videos

This is your money maker. What do you offer & what do people want?

Communication: newsletters | blog posts | videos | social media posts

Communication is any free content that you send to your email list. Sending content to fans & current customers keeps your information relevant & fresh in the minds of your customers & fans.

Strategy: How often do you communicate – why & what platforms do you use?

Don’t just communicate with your fans randomly. Be consistent.

Over the next year, I’m going to explore each of these elements individually.
